🐉 St. George and the Dragon
A Hero’s Tale to Save a Small Town
Once upon a time, in a quiet little town surrounded by green hills and blue skies, the people lived peacefully…
That is, until a terrible dragon came to live in the nearby cave.
This dragon was no ordinary dragon.
He was huge!
He was grumpy!
And worst of all… he was hungry.
Every day, he came down from the mountain, blowing smoke from his nose and demanding food.
“If you don’t feed me,” he roared, “I’ll blow fire on your houses!”
So the townspeople gave him all their cows, all their sheep, and even their pies and cakes.
But the dragon was never full.
And one day, he made a terrible demand:
“Next time,” he growled, “I want the princess!”
The whole town gasped.
Princess Isabella was kind and brave. She read stories to children and brought cookies to the bakers.
They couldn’t lose her!
Far away, a young knight named George was traveling across the land.
He had shiny armor, a brave heart, and a horse named Pepper who loved apples.
When George heard about the dragon, he galloped straight to the town.
“I will help,” said George. “No one should live in fear. Especially not kind princesses.”
The townspeople cheered. Princess Isabella smiled.
“Be careful,” she said. “He’s very big and very mean.”
The next morning, George rode up the hill to the dragon’s cave.
“Hello in there!” he called.
Hufffff!
The dragon came stomping out, snorting smoke.
“WHO DARES WAKE ME?!”
“I’m George,” said the knight. “And I think you’ve had enough sheep for one lifetime!”
The dragon roared and blew fire, but George held up his shield.
They battled across the rocks and through the trees—CLANG! SWISH! WHOOSH!
But then George saw something…
The dragon’s paw was hurt!
He wasn’t just grumpy—he was in pain!
George lowered his sword.
“Wait,” he said. “Are you hurt?”
The dragon blinked. No one had ever asked before.
“My paw… there’s a thorn,” the dragon said softly.
George gently pulled out the thorn and wrapped it with a bandage.
“Ouch,” said the dragon. “But… thank you.”
The dragon felt better—and a little embarrassed.
“I didn’t mean to be scary,” he mumbled. “I was just hungry and sore.”
George smiled. “How about we find you a new home, with food that doesn’t scream?”
And that’s exactly what they did.
The dragon moved to a faraway forest, where he ate berries and fish and napped in the sun.
The town was safe again!
Princess Isabella gave George a big hug, and the people threw a party with music, cupcakes, and dancing.
From that day on, whenever anyone in town felt scared or unsure, they remembered the brave knight with a kind heart…
Sir George, the Dragon Helper.
